CrossFit is fitness that focuses on real-life movements such as squatting to sit in a chair, lifting a heavy bag of dog food, and hoisting (overhead pressing) a box on to the top storage shelf.

Life is unpredictable. Sports are unpredictable. The unexpected happens and it happens quickly. We need to be physically prepared for every contingency. Life's demands are immediate, spontaneous, and typically short. Therefore, whether training for fitness, or to be an athlete, or in preparation for the demands of a high-risk job, our workouts should resemble real-life.
Mirroring the demands of real life, CrossFit workouts are constantly varied. The level of difficulty changes with each training session. The duration of each exercise is typically short but also varies from workout to workout. Likewise, an average workout lasts only 20 minutes. (Seriously, when is the last time life required you to keep repeating the same physical task over and over again for more than 20 minutes?)
Workouts at CrossFit Outrival promise to be ever changing and tough... but they are also quick and highly effective.
It is like working out with a small group of friends and a personal trainer (except it's cheaper!). At CrossFit Outrival in Kenosha, WI we struggle through these physical challenges of CrossFit together. It is a shared experience. Through that experience, we forge a profound camaraderie. As each partner strives to overcome his personal limitations, he also develops as a mentor, encourager and brother to his comrade. Working together, everyone is able to redefine who he/she is and what he/she is capable of. These accomplishments, shared by all of our members, are part of the fitness matrix that makes the relationships within our walls unique and bonding. Considerable growth with mutual support and admiration create a sense of community for our members and accountability for each person's success.

When in the presence of others, we work harder and faster. Even when that inner voice (your greatest rival) tells us to quit, we find a way to push through if someone else is watching.
Competition is a natural motivator to get us to ACHIEVE MORE. Otherwise, sports would cease to exist. If we could do it on our own, there would be no personal trainers.
So, define your own competition. It doesn't matter whether it is the time on the clock, the number of reps, your past performance, or your teammate. Pick a measureable goal and aim. Otherwise, it's like shooting arrows without a target. What's the point?!
A person who is able to train three or more days per week will experience faster progress. Having said that, please note that muscle fiber requires time to rebuild following an intense workout. Too much work without adequate recovery time will lead to injuries and setbacks. Recovery is just as important and consistent training!
Furthermore, please consider other activities as you establish your training/recovery cycle.
The average CrossFit workout is 20 minutes or less.
